First CCTV Quarterly subcommittee consultation meeting
In order to work more closely with our customer’s and the CCTV industry, BT Redcare committed to hosting a quarterly CCTV sub-committee consultation meeting at the CCTV User group back in April 08.
We hosted the first CCTV quarterly sub-committee consultation meeting on the 3rd of July 08 at the BT Tower. It was chaired by Peter Fry, Director of CCTV user group and attended by 11 user group members (a mixture of local authorities and police CCTV managers).
This meeting focused on two topical areas of concerns for members:
- The previous announcement by BT Openreach to the changes in pricing in the wholesale market over the next 3 years and how the members would want this managed by BT Redcare to ensure long-term market stability. An informative exchange of concepts and implications within the current funding regime were discussed and James Hennah, Commercial Director at BT Redcare, said “The opportunity to work together has been extremely informative; we hope to apply the information to ensure we find the right solutions to mutual benefit.”
- The second topic covered how different technologies and services have enabled members to reduce their total costs for delivering CCTV services. It also looked at how the national strategy is going to impact on future requirements on CCTV managers to extend their areas of operation as well as the lack of clarity over future standards for evolution to digital platforms.
Jon Gibbs commented: “I would like to encourage you all to provide us with feedback on what you would like from a provider like BT Redcare going forward. Collaborative working will help us provide the correct financial and technical offering over a sustainable period to ensure continuity with local schemes.”
